There are lots of tips for selling on Etsy and the list can go on and on but one that I think is often overlooked, one that I just realized I need to continually remind myself of is this… Put Your Blinders On a.k.a. Focus.
Do you find that you sometimes get quite distracted with all the shiny new objects that keep surfacing?
A brand new course here… A new trick, trend, or technique to increase sales there… A new product or training you just have to jump on the bandwagon for… Like now…! Because “this deal goes away at midnight tonight…” Gasp… :0
I write this from very personal experience because I get bitten by the “shiny new object” bug quite often, and after realizing just how distracted it gets me, and how off-track I find myself once the shiny-ness wears off, then the remorse sets in…
And I go back to the basics…
Back to where I should have just stayed on track, where, had I stayed on course, I’d have been able to see more and possibly even better results.
I’m not saying learning new things and educating oneself is bad… Not at all. I’m a big advocate of always learning and staying on top of the needful things. I myself am always trying to learn and grow, but discernment is needed when choosing what things are necessary and essential for growth and which ones are true distractions.
Everyone’s situation is different though. What might be distractions for me might be essentials for you and vice versa. You’ll have to make that determination for yourself and your Etsy business.
At the end of the day, this particular tip is simply about getting you to focus and stay focused on building your Etsy business.
Set your business goals and if an activity, course, coaching program, or whatever else comes your way is going to get you closer to your preset goals then go for it, but if it isn’t, perhaps it’s just another distraction disguised as progress…
Busyness without actual productivity.
Now… Get those blinders on and get back to work 😉
