I just got my first sale on Etsy Studio (on Saturday May 27, 2017 actually)!
So Etsy Studio has been around for almost two months now… The Etsy spin-off site for selling crafting supplies went live to the world back in April 2017 and if you’re a seller of crafting supplies on Etsy you were probably very likely in on all the hype surrounding its launch.
Leading up to the big launch, Etsy sent out a preparatory email series to people with crafting supplies shops on Etsy all about getting ready to sell on the new platform. I followed through on all the updates and suggested tweaks and learned some new things along the way about how the Etsy platform itself was going to be changing in the near future.
I didn’t really know how people who weren’t already familiar with Etsy would possibly learn about Etsy Studio but my thought was that if Etsy was eventually going to make a move to shift all the supply shops off the main Etsy site and onto just Etsy Studio, then I’d better be prepared.
Well, it finally happened… So far today (well, I’m writing this on Saturday, but you’re probably reading this after that) I’ve made two sales. I have the Sell on Etsy app so I hear the Etsy ka-ching immediately a sale comes through.
The first thing I usually do is open up the app to see exactly what I sold and mentally sift through my inventory location aka the plastic storage boxes in my basement 😉 to recall where I need to go to retrieve the item(s) sold for packaging and shipping.
So this time around I pulled up the item and right there next to the date of sale it said “on Etsy Studio”. When I opened up the order listing, under the order number and date it stated “Ordered on Etsy Studio”.
This makes me happy because at least now I know that it is possible to get sales through Etsy Studio despite the fact that I just didn’t think enough people out there knew about it. I actually still don’t think it’s widely known because it’s altogether possible that this sale could have come from a fellow seller on Etsy who knows about Etsy Studio and needed the supply item to make more products.
That said, I’m not going to over-analyze it… I’m just grateful for the sale from this new platform.
So What’s Your Etsy Studio Experience Thus Far?
Are you a supplier seller on Etsy? If so, have you received your first sale on Etsy Studio yet or in fact, any sales at all from Etsy Studio? How soon after the launch of the new site did your first sale on it come and have they been consistent since?
How about the regular Etsy site…? Are your sales on there still thriving or are they diminishing and Etsy Studio sales increasing? Has anything changed at all or not at all?
Let’s talk about it in the comments section below.
