Rashmi and I first communicated way back in January 2019 and I actually had to dig back in my email messages to read our exchange after she reminded of it when we spoke for our convo this week.

The email she sent me was exactly the type that makes me so happy to be doing this podcast and we ended the exchange by me telling her I’d love to her on the podcast one day…

And here she is! 🙂

She works as a software engineer by day and by night she’s running a business on Etsy that was birthed out of her return to a calming practice – creating pen art and pattern-centered art around culture and dance which she sells in her Etsy shop Rashmi Art Shop.

In our conversation today you’ll hear about how she juggles both a full-time job and part-time business by setting reasonable boundaries and expectations of herself and everything in-between.

Topics Discussed:

  • Time constraints and other unique issues associated with being a part-time small business owner
  • Getting inspiration from other designs vs. dealing with copy cats
  • Opening an Etsy shop in response to demand from Instagram
  • Figuring out how to price artwork
  • Etsy shop promo through website and Facebook page and future plans she has for her website
  • How new sellers can set themselves apart on Etsy
  • And much more…
