Etsy Shop Listings Experiment

September 8, 2015

I’m trying out a theory that just about every Etsy seller has heard preached numerous times over, and if you sell on Etsy (or anywhere online for that matter) and haven’t heard this theory then I’m glad to present it to you… I can pretend I came up with the idea first πŸ˜‰

It has long been said that having a blog about/in conjunction with your Etsy shop can be used to drive traffic to your shop and subsequently help increase sales. Basically, blogging about your Etsy shop listings to drive traffic to your shop and thus, hopefully improve/increase product sales.

I have never deliberately made a conscious effort to test out this theory even though in my mind I’ve rationalized that it makes good sense. So now, I have decided to test the theory out for myself.

Can blogging on a regular basis about my Etsy shop products really help to increase sales?

To prove, or rather, to test this theory, the first challenge is putting a system in place to ensure I have an ever-increasing inventory base, or at least an actively growing product line.

etsy shop simply craft supplies, etsy shop listingsThis isn’t too hard for me because one of the shops I will be using as a test subject is a new shop I set up at the end of 2014 to be my crash test dummy shop for all the Etsy tools and services I planned to try out and report back on to you in 2015.

Granted, I haven’t done much testing and reporting this year as I have been focusing mainly on the podcast.

However, as the year approaches its final quarter and the busy holiday selling season, I think now is a good time to start testing out tools and theories.

My Goal

Blog regularly about the products on sale in my Etsy shops to see if doing so will positively affect sales.

If not daily, then at least multiple times a week or at the very least, as often as I am listing new products.

Reporting Frequency

This whole experiment is rather ambitious for me so I’ll be conservative and say that I’ll try to start off reporting back on my findings on a quarterly basis… Wish me luck πŸ˜‰
